Climate smart fishing vessels
From being energy efficient to no waste and high standards of crew accommodation, we are proud of the FAS fleet.
Our member’s vessels lead the way when it comes to being energy efficient with state-of-the-art technology. This includes a hybrid approach, with the redistribution of heat generated through the main engine being used to heat the crew cabins. Electricity is also produced onboard while the trawl winches are in recuperation mode.
This confirms that our sustainably managed Frozen at Sea fillets represent a climate-smart food source, with new technology and innovation, hybrid engines and power regeneration. Helping to assist with reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, or for the UN 2050.
Improved Fish welfare and Quality
Our members vessels provide high standards when it comes to fish welfare, which is reflected in the quality of the frozen at sea fillets.
From advanced and selective gear technology to handling onboard, the sustainability and welfare is a key priority across the fleet.
Innovation continues
Frozen at Sea cod and haddock going into the UK’s Fish and Chip shops already have a low carbon footprint and businesses are committed to reducing emissions further. This includes enhancing fuel efficiency through innovations in vessel design and fishing practices which will help to minimise emissions.
Crew accommodation.
From single cabins, gyms, wi-fi, sauna, jacuzzi, cinema, and Xbox rooms, our member vessels may sound more like a cruise liner than a working fishing vessel. But highly important to provide high standards of facilities whether a vessel is at sea for one week or 6 weeks.
